Fees & Funding
At QPAH, we are a small, fee-for-service provider. This means:
- Payment is made at the time of service (cash or credit card)
- You’ll receive an itemised invoice after each session
- NDIS participants who are self-managed can claim fees back directly through the NDIS portal
- NDIS participants who are plan-managed do not need to pay upfront — invoices are sent directly to your plan manager
- Agency-managed NDIS participants are NOT ELIGIBLE to receive services through QPAH

Medicare (GP chronic condition management plan – previously an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC))
- Speech and occupational therapy may be accessed through a GP chronic condition management plan (GPCCMP) to receive care for a chronic or terminal medical condition. These medical conditions are present or are likely to be present for 6 months or longer or are terminal. Medicare rebates apply but do not cover the full fee.
- A GPCCMP allows for 5 individual services each calendar year. For example, this can be a combination of services or 5 speech therapy sessions or occupational therapy sessions.
04 Private Health Insurance (HICAPS Onsite)
04 Private Health Insurance (HICAPS Onsite)
- Speech and occupational therapy may be eligible for private health insurance rebates, if you have the appropriate level of cover. Rebate rates vary across policies – please ask your insurer for more information.
- Private Health Insurance rebates do not cover the full fee.
- QPAH has HICAPS onsite to process your claims, on the spot. This can only be done on the day of service if you have your membership card (physical or digital) with you. You will only be required to pay the gap on the spot.
- Your claim can only be processed by QPAH on the day of service. If you don’t have your Private Health Insurance card with you on the day of service, you will be required to pay in full and an invoice will be issued detailing the codes you will need to make a claim from your insurer, yourself.
05 Assessment/Treatment of Autism, Other Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Other Eligible Disabilities
05 Assessment/Treatment of Autism, Other Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Other Eligible Disabilities
Medicare (Paediatrician OR Psychiatrist Care Plan: Manage complex neurodeveopmental disorders and eligible disabilities)
- At QPAH this type of referral can cover speech and occupational therapy
- You must be under 25 years of age with an eligible neurodeveopmental disorder and/or disability
- The referral for allied health services must come from a paediatrician or psychiatrist
- For Assessment, a maximum of 4 assessment services can be accessed, then a report needs to be prepared for the referring specialist (an additional 4 assessments to a max of 8 can be requested).
- The referring specialist can then refer the participant for 20 allied health treatment services (in a lifetime) but only 10 can be performed before a report is required for the referring specialist. Then, a new referral can be issued for the remaining 10 sessions.
- You are only eligible for this type of care plan, once in your life.
- When making a referral for these services, your paediatrican or psychiatrist must detail that their referral is “under item 135 for complex conditions”. This will avoid confusion and the need to delay services until the referral has been issued correctly.

07 Cancellation Policy
Please find our carefully considered cancellation policy below:
- Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to avoid the cancellation fee.
- Late notice cancellations inside of the 48 hour period or failure to attend on the day of your appointment will incur the full scheduled fee.
- Our cancellation policy remains in place in the instance of illness, however a make-up session or non-face-to-face session can be provided.
- If you fail to attend 2 or more sessions in a row without explanation, you will be placed back onto our waiting list.
- During a school term, you must attend 80% or more of your scheduled sessions to avoid being placed back on our waiting list. *Subject to review at the end of each school term.*
We ask you to respect this relaxed cancellation policy and understand that we have a duty of care to you and will check in with you, should the frequency of short notice cancellations be of concern. Consistent attendance is in your best interest. Appointment times are valuable, as all QPAH clinicians have people on waiting lists for regular appointments.
